Thats pretty cool seeing a Tokai ..if you are looking for something Stratish /Teleish the other make to maybe looks at would be G&L I've heard some pretty gopod things about them :)

The Preamp doobrie I would really like would be This but it's nearly £435 here in the UK ...I suppose I want it cos Frank Gamabale is my favorite player but from everything I have read it's an awesome preamp...

Wolf: The link didn't exactly work as the server woundn't allow direct linking, it seems.

Anyway, just spent the morning looking around in guitar shops. I was first starting to be inclined towards the Sambora Mexican strat as they were offering it for me at 700€ IOW just over 400£, and I thought it was reasonable, as there was probably some room to haggle. I then proceeded to check out the Tokai Strats and Les Pauls, and was then inclining towards a Tokai LP. They were from 500-600€ IOW 350-400£, and they were rather nice. Not brilliant, but very good for the money.

Then, I found my precious. A new Tokai Model. A PRS copy (or whatever you might want to call it, a ripoff  ) with 24 frets. No whammy bar, though. That's the only drawback since I was somewhat fancying a Floyd. However, it just fit my hands perfectly. Very, very comfortable to play, extremely effortless. Nice sound from the two humbuckers it had. Just an incredible guitar for the money. Beautiful to look at, if you're into the PRD type. Costs 536€ which is 350£. I talked to the shop keeper and he said that when he saw that I was looking at Tokais he was just waiting for me to pick that one up to see my reaction. That's the one I'm getting. I'm counting my pennies as we speak, and I'm getting it the minute I have the money. :bg: :D :bg: I'm really really excited about this! I just cannot wait to buy that guitar.

Also, on another note. I'm also going to get a new amp. A 2W practice amp. It was a Roland model with a name that had cube in it. Very much fun and just what I need, since I can currently only play when I'm at my computer. It was about 15cm*15cm*15cm. The smallest amp I ever saw, smaller than my computer speakers' woofer. And it had a lot af things to play around with and a full sound. 125€ or 80£. But I'm getting the guitar first. :D

I was so excited I forgot...

The one I was looking at was red, and that is probably the on I'll have. Also it had gold hardware. This is as close to that as I could find.

It's rather difficult to find pics of these, and Tokais in general. They don't have as good sites as most manufacturers.

I actually have begun using my whammy quite a bit. Well, that's not exactly true since I don't have one. (Wait, let me explain :) ) My guitar actually is equipped with one but the bloke I bought it from had lost it. So I basically have the trem without the bar. Anyway, I found a weird way of making a vibrato with the trem. I sort of have my hand on top of the trem, like I'm palm muting it, and I do a vibrato with that. It's not as gargling as it is with a whammy but it's more distinct than it is when using the fretting hand. I've never heard of anyone using this technique, so I'm rather proud of it. :D It's a bit harder on a floyd than a regular one, actually, since it's built a little different, but it can be done.

Also, I'm not quite sure whether I'll end up using the cube for recording. I'm not sure but I seem to remember that it had no output jack (on account of it being so small, no doubt) . I could be wrong, though. I'm thinking of buying it just to improve my practicing possibilities. My computer chair isn't the most comfortable place to play in. :D And there's the fact that it's fun as hell to fool around with.

The thing that's weird, btw, is that now I'm actually damn glad I didn't end up getting the Satriani model. Sure enough, it was a better guitar, but it was over twice the price, second hand. Well over three times the price new. So it's basically to be expected. I still feel this is more guitar for the money I'm about to spend. And then I just like it more, in a weird way, even though it's not as good. I just feel it's more suitable for me.

I might be a bit over-excited about this, but what the hey. It's only so often you come by a guitar that you really, truly like. :D

 I use the same Technique m8 with my trem ..I very rarely use the bar,but palm it as well :D

But forget I told you the above :D ..if you look at the Ibanez Korn K7 they have a u bar so you can palm the trem ..I keep thinking about making one at work !

I'm really pleased you found a guitar you love :)

Damn, and here I though I was being innovative! Well, anyway, I hadn't heard about it from anyone, I figured it out by myself, so it has to count for something, right?

I looked at the U-bar. Reminds me of this weird hing a friend of mine has in his guitar. It's a bar that you press and it automatically mutes all strings like you're palm muting them. It's not too quick to switch on and off, but if you're playing a song with a lot of palm muting, it makes playing a bit easier.

Not that it has anything to fo with the question at hand, it just reminded me of that. :bg:

I'm seriously thinking about getting the guitar tomorrow and starving for a month. :D Or maybe the parents would lend me some cash until I start my summer job...
