[Request] Referendum On Quick Reply
I wish to propose a referendum on the issue of Quick Reply.
Explanation: Quick Reply is the small box at the bottom of a thread which allows you type quick response and make a reply without needing to load the full reply page, which has all the formatting options. The advantage of this is that it saves on loading time, particularly for modem users, of the full reply page and makes reply quick and easy. The disadvantage is that it discourages use of quoting and other formatting codes, and may potentially encourage use of superflous one-liners which users may not make if the full reply page had to be used.
Since this is such a divided issue, I propose that this referendum should be valid for one month only, after which another request may be made if users feel it to be necessary. This would entail a temporary amendment for this referendum only, to section 9 of the rules, which states "9. Once a referendum request has been made, the same request can not be submitted until a period of three months has elasped." In this case the period would be one month. This does not necessarily mean that a request will be made after one month, merely that the possibility would be available.
Proposed question: Should Quick Reply stay?
Option #1: Yes
Option #2: No
Having made this request, 4 (four) members of the forum must now post in this thread to say they support this request - or if they do not, to post any changes that should take effect before they would be prepared to support the request. Once we have four offers of support, the vote will take place according to the rules of Rules of Referenda.
This request is now offered for consideration. Please post offers of support, requests for amendment, questions and suggestions below.

I'll support the motion for a referendum, [Edit] the words 'so long as everybody votes for QR to stay' have been removed from this post [/Edit].

Fair enough MP, but note that officially that counts only as a comment - it doesn't not count against any of the votes of support offered so far, and if four offers are brought to the table then we go for the vote. Then each and every person has one vote to declare their opinion.

I always use quick reply, and I'd like to think my replies aren't (all) spammy. I just think it's a quick way of replying to something, and it allows more advanced users to use formatting without having to load a new page. I also like reviewing the topic by simply scrolling up while replying.
I'll probably support this referendum, but needless to say I really want it to stay.
