[GPG] Del's choice (don't laugh)...

Manic Street Preachers - Condemned To Rock N Roll
OK this is track 18 off their debut, Generation Terrorists.
This is basically seen as the hardest Manics track to play, mainly cos it's long and has a few different sections, and it rocks pretty hard as well. I;ve found a good-ish tab here, like I said, don't laugh at my choice, I love this band!
Anyway, have fun... tis a good song :wink:

Haven't had any luck finding a Guitar Tab Pro tab, but here's the next best thing, Power tab (here)

Can't wait to learn my first Manics song. I've long been tempted by "Found That Soul".

For anyone with Power Tab and Guitar Pro. You can convert one into the other by extracting a Midi file then importing that into your preferred program :D

[EDIT]

Just noticed that MIDI conversion also allows you to import it with standard tuning :D It makes all transcription changes for you.

BTW I really love this song, I've always been put off a bit by more recent Manics stuff but this is really amazing, next time I have cash I may need to buy some early Manics :D

Phew... I thought I'd have an "Oh God not the Manics" response from people but so far that's been ok. But the song is excellent, so we can't really complain...

Ok i'll get it up later, I don't have too much time on my hands, and the mp3s on a separate computer... *sigh*
Rest assured, it's far far diffreent from the "Tolerate" days of MSP.
IE. Good :D

Ok here's the mp3... tis a little bit fucked cos I'm having a few problems with uploads. Copy the link below into your browser, and windows meida player should pop up. I suggest you wait until the bar is completely white (this is the file "downloading" as a temporary file") and then click "file", then "save as". and then use/listen to it. If there's any jitter errors there, it ain't my fault :x . Anyway. The link!:

Enjoy!
BTW if there's any real problems with jitters etc, then PM me and i'll send it via MSN or something.

I'm sorry about this guys, since I said I'd be permanently in on this, this week has been (and the remainder of this week will probably also be) too damn hectic for me to even pick up the guitar. I'm really sorry but I won't be able to record as I haven't even had a chance to start learning this song. Once weekend comes I'll see if this thread is still alive and I might try to put something up. Otherwise I'll go straight for next week's pick. This is a one-time thing so it's not like I'll be permanently skipping weeks. Sorry. :(

Damn, do we only have a week to learn this?
:-? I'm in the same situation... but once the weekend comes I'll be giving it a bash... the only advantage I have is that I know the structure of the song back to front from over-listening... :mrgreen:

I'm in a similar situation but I'll still put in my best effort on Friday. With being away this weekend, having a stomach bug and being generally wrecked I've only practiced it one day so far. I know some of the basic rythm and the first little lead break. It's pissing me off as I love the song and it's one I will continue to learn, like the Megadeth and Metallica ones.

Ok, i've just learned this tonight, so it's not great. I couldn;t find a midi to strip down to a backing track, so it's just guitar.

Here's the intro upto the solo: MP3 - approx 1MB

Here's the beginning if the instrumental section, followed by the hardest lick played slowly: MP3 approx 1MB

I played the fast riff slowly, for anyone wanting to play it properly. ALL the tab's i've seen have this wrong, even the powertab one. Here's how i do it.

Code: Select all

                                         A                 Asus4  A

D:||----------------------------------||-----------------------------|
A:||.--------------------------------.||-2-----2---x---2--x--3----2--|
F:||----------------------------------||-2-----2---x---2--x--2----2--|
C:||.--------------------------------.||-2-----2---x---2--x--2----2--|
G:||--7-5-4-0-5-4-0-2-----------------||-0-----0---x---0--x--0----0--|
D:||-------------------3-2-0-2-3-0----||-----------------------------|
Tell me if it sounds wrong, i don't profess to be the worlds greatest transcriber.

I never bothered going that far. There's only so much cracking and popping I can stand. I got Del's mp3, coz it was the only one i could find.

I wish you luck with it. I reckon i'd struggle with that one. I might have a crack at it when i have some free time.

Any probs let me know. When you've got it, tell me so I know I can delete it from my webspace.

Lol...I think i,m in the same boat.....I,ve been wrking from 8 till 11 every day this week and am absolutley knackered.....but willtry to have a bash over the weekend....

I had a little go but just cannot seem to get my head round the weird tuning....how in guitar pro do you make it convert to standard tuning .

I,ve played the riff as tabbed out in strange tuning in normal and it actually sounds quite good

Will listen to yours later Bigpops m8... i,m sure it will be great.

Just downloading your mp3 Icebus m8.....as I think I like the song lol :P

If you export it to Midi then import it back in, it should be in normal tuning.

I'm having a bit of a problem getting this one done myself now, I've kind of broken my little finger on my right hand (not the actual protruding bit, the hand part) and it's giving me a bit of gyp. I'm still going to give it a bash over the weekend but I warn you it might not be up to much picking wise.
