Downtime
The extended period of downtime suffered over the past 12 hours was largely unavoidable. It was caused by a significant power failure which put our database server out of action until a replacement was found late last night. At that time it would have been impossible - and unlikely - for me to have resurrected the forums from a back-up, due to the possibility of data being recovered from the failed MySQL server.
Fortunately, at 11am this morning, Netweaver successfully recovered the forum database and the forums are now fully operational with no data loss.
Please remember in future, if there is a problem with ixyl, I will attempt to let users know via the main page or via a forum access page. If this is not possible (i.e. network isolation) then more information can usually be gathered from Netweaver at their dedicated status server, http://www.netweaver.info/
